Satire, sarcasm, sarcastic, critical wit, mockery, ridicule, derision, scorn, irony, caricature; NOT LITERAL!

I usually do not post/share satire, or use satire when writing or making a comment, because of the possibility that people sometimes don't get that its satire, and go ballistic, loose faith in you, or start re-posting it, quoting it or believing that it is fact.

To this day their are still conservatives who believe that Steve Colbert is actually conservative... they don't get that he was 'playing' a conservative on his show The Steve Colbert Report and was actually making fun of them. Expressing satire and sarcasm in writing can be tricky, even when your being obvious, which is why many have advocated for a 'sarcasm' font,* but everyone thinks their just kidding, i.e. being sarcastic.

Now I have no skill set that allows me to create a font, nor do I believe my post or blogs are trendy enough that my designating a font will catch on, but as protection against poor or ambiguous satire on my part, my blogs will utilize the “Gentium Basic” font, bold/italic,  as text that should be read as satire. (in red on light backgrounds, or yellow on dark backgrounds)

Doing the laundry and cleaning the windows: Allegorically?

I thought sharing this Facebook post/article would demonstrate how easy we have it now over 50 years ago. You know, as an example for those older people who keep posting those nostalgic post about missing the good-old days, and the younger people who don't appreciate how simple things are for them, like 'chores'.
Then I realized that the old fogies of my generation wouldn't read past the first few lines to reveal the message contained in the last paragraph, and the 'young-uns' probably don't have any idea how their laundry is cleaned and dried today... chores? chores? what are chores?

Our memories tend to be seen through tinted windows, which, like our willingness to accept everything that agrees with what we want to believe as fact. Before you like or share a slogan or graphic that appears to support what you want it to support think if that little simplification can support your viewpoint, which hopefully is more complicated and thought out with reason, not short-sighted anger or jingle-ism.
Be sure that it is actually promoting what it appears to be promoting, not some subtle hurtful message... and on occasion, consider the source.
Young people are not the only people who need to realize that everything they see on the internet (or news) is NOT true.

Earth Endangered by New Strain of Fact-Resistant Humans

MINNEAPOLIS (The Borowitz Report) – Scientists have discovered a powerful new strain of fact-resistant humans who are threatening the ability of Earth to sustain life, a sobering new study reports.

The research, conducted by the University of Minnesota, identifies a virulent strain of humans who are virtually immune to any form of verifiable knowledge, leaving scientists at a loss as to how to combat them.

“These humans appear to have all the faculties necessary to receive and process information,” Davis Logsdon, one of the scientists who contributed to the study, said. “And yet, somehow, they have developed defenses that, for all intents and purposes, have rendered those faculties totally inactive.”

More worryingly, Logsdon said, “As facts have multiplied, their defenses against those facts have only grown more powerful.”

While scientists have no clear understanding of the mechanisms that prevent the fact-resistant humans from absorbing data, they theorize that the strain may have developed the ability to intercept and discard information en route from the auditory nerve to the brain. “The normal functions of human consciousness have been completely nullified,” Logsdon said.

While reaffirming the gloomy assessments of the study, Logsdon held out hope that the threat of fact-resistant humans could be mitigated in the future. “Our research is very preliminary, but it’s possible that they will become more receptive to facts once they are in an environment without food, water, or oxygen,” he said.
